Born to Learn
Most babies are excited to learn. However, as soon as children are able to compare themselves to others, some will stop focusing on learning and will instead focus on performance; they want to look good in front of others and more importantly, they want to feel like they are the best. Practising growth mindset theory with children is a great way to get them engaged with subjects and activities that they try to avoid through fear of getting things wrong or "not being good enough". |
Reflection
How are you activating your class?
How are you encouraging curiosity and risk taking?
How can we include play as a learning tool in the class?
What are your actions and words modelling?
We'll be more successful in developing a growth mindset in our children if we also work to develop it in ourselves. It is never too late.
